Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Wedensday (December 20) said people of the country are not responding to BNP-Jamaat's anti-election programs as they are in favour of election which is their constitutional right.
She made the remark while talking to reporters after offering prayers at the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal in Sylhet.
BNP-Jamaat wants to create fear among people and foil the upcoming elections slated for January 7, Sheikh Hasina also the ruling Awami League president said, adding, “They will not let people to vote, but people wants to cast vote, mass people are for the elections”
She said, the mass people are not responding to anti-election programs by BNP-Jamaat as people of the country are for the Constitutional rights, election right and wants elections.
The prime minister no one will accept any militant and terrorist activities in Bangladesh. “If anyone does this, the people of the country one day will throw them out. That is the reality.”
She said the Awami League government has been fulfilling the basic needs of the people one by one.
“Rest of the needs will be fulfilled Inshallah if in 7 January election the people of Bangladesh cast their votes for boat symbol and if we can form the government again. We will make the whole Bangladesh developed and prosperous. And no one will be without address, home and land,” she said.
Earlier, Awami League (AL) President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today offered ziarat at the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shah Paran (RA) in Sylhet.
Sheikh Hasina, who arrived here this morning to kick off election campaign of her party for the 12th national polls, first went to the mazar of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) in the divisional city.
She spent there for some time, reciting from the holy Quran and offering Fateha and munajat.
Later, the premier visited the mazar of Hazrat Shah Paran (RA).
She also recited from the holy Quran and offered Fateha and munajat there.
Prime Minister's younger sister Sheikh Rehana accompanied her in both the places.
