MEHERPUR: A leader of Jamaat-e-Islami was killed in a gunfight between leaders-activists of the party and joint forces at Hizli field under Sadar Upazila of the district early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Jabbar, 58, Ameer of Amjhupi Union unit Jamaat-e-Islami.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

District police super AKM Nahidul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
