Jhenidah road crash kills Presiding Officer

JHEENAIDAH: A presiding officer was killed in a road accident in Sastar Bazar area under Moheshpur upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Abul Bashar, 45, an assigned presiding officer of the area for 10th parliamentary polls and Lecturer of Moheshpur Municipal Women’s College.

Police sources said Bashar fall down on the road from a human hauler while he was visiting a vote centre with election materials around 4:30pm, leaving him injured critically.

Later, locals rushed him to Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officer-in-Charge of Maheshpur Thana Akram Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
