NEWYORK: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon Thursday mourned the passing of two Bangladeshi peacekeepers Corporal Rafiqul Islam and Sanwar Hossain.

In a letter to Bangladesh Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN in New York Dr AK Abdul Momen,
Ban Ki-Moon said that it is really praiseworthy that facing life risk, Bangladeshi peacekeepers are a devoted to their duties.

Ban Ki-Moon thanked Bangladesh government for the contribution in keeping peace around the globe.

Earlier on December 11 and 14, the Bangladeshi peacekeepers Corporal Rafiq and Sanwar were killed in Congo peacekeeping mission.
