Fardin murder case: CID's report submission by June 30

A Dhaka court on Sunday (May 19) again asked the Criminal Investigation Department to submit by June 30 the further investigation report in a case filed over the death of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Fardin Noor Parash in November last year.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ali Haider set the new date after CID failed to submit any probe report today.

Earlier on January 10, Amatullah Bushra, an accused in a case filed over the death Fardin Noor, was released from Kashimpur Women's Central Jail.

A Dhaka court granted bail to Bushra on January 8, who was arrested following the death of Fardin.

Bushra, a friend of Fardin, was detained for nearly two months even though investigators from the Detective Branch (DB) of police and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have so far found no indication that Bushra had a connection to Fardin's death.

The decomposed body of Fardin, 24, was recovered from Shitalakshya River in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj after 3 days of disappearance on November 7 last year behind Lakshmi Narayan Cotton Mill.

Deceased Fardin was a third-year student of the civil engineering department of the university. They lived in Konapara Shanti Bagh area of Demra in the capital.

On November 9, 2022, Fardin's father Nuruddin Rana filed a case accusing Bushra with Rampura Police Station.

After conducting an autopsy, doctors at Narayanganj General Hospital confirmed that Fardin was murdered.

On November 10, 2022, the DB of police arrested Bushra from her residence at Rampura in the capital.

On April 16, last year, another Dhaka court ordered the CID to further investigate the case following a Naraji Petition (no confidence petition) filed by the victim Fardin's father Kazi Noor Uddin Rana, the complainant of the case against DB Police Report.
