Former Inspector General (IGP) Benazir Ahmed will remain out of the purview of the provision for whitening black money, National Board of Revenue Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmantul Munim said on Friday.
The NBR chairman came up with the remarks while addressing a post-budget press conference held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka this afternoon.
“It is a sub-judice matter and I think this opportunity will not be applicable for him (Benazir),” he said responding to a journalist query about the former IGP Benazir's properties.
The government has created a scope of whitening black money in the proposed national budget for the next fiscal to bring the businessmen’s legitimate income under TAX net, he said.
With a visionary target to control inflation, Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali unveiled a proposed national budget of Tk7.97 lakh crore for the fiscal year 2024-25 on Thursday.
In the proposed budget, he said anyone can turn black money into white after paying 15% TAX to the government.
