DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the month-long ‘Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2014’ on Saturday afternoon at Bangla Academy premises.
The premier inaugurated the fair around 3:30pm and hand over Bangla Academy Award-2014 to poets, writers, researchers and educators.
Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar (Radio) telecast and broadcast the inauguration ceremony live.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages on the occasion of the book fair.
The fair will remain open from 3:00pm to 9:00pm except holyday. And on holiday the fair will start at 11:00am.
The Amar Ekushey Book Fair has been dedicated to late former chief justice Habibur Rahman, also fellow of Bangla Academy, this year.
With Bangla Academy Chairman Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman in the chair, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor as a special guest joined in the inaugural ceremony.
