700-gm gold seized at Ctg airport

CHITTAGONG: The customs officials seized six gold bars weighing 700 grams at Shah Amanat International Airport in the port city on Friday morning.

The Assistant Commissioner of Chittagong customs (Airport unit), Parvez Al Zaman, told banglanews that the flight of Oman Airways from Muscat landed at the airport around 9:30am.

Later, the customs officials recovered the gold bars from wallets and shoes after searching two passengers- Rahim Uddin, 40 and Nurul Haque, 42.

The gold bars worth about Tk 30 lakhs.

Earlier on Thursday night, some 420 abandoned gold bars were seized in the airport from a flight from Dubai.
