DNCC evicts 250 illegal shops from Dhaka’s footpath

Authorities of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) today (Oct 21) evicted a total of 250 illegal makeshift shops from roads and footpaths in the city's Gulshan area.

The DNCC officials have conducted a drive in the Gulshan-1 and Gulshan-2 areas under Ward-19 against illegal makeshift shops set up on roads and pavements, according to a DNCC statement.

Executive Officer of DNCC Zone-3 and also Executive Magistrate Md Zulkar Nayan led the drive.

The team of DNCC cleared around two kilometres of roads and footpaths by evicting 250 illegal shops from the Gulshan-1 and Gulshan-2 areas, it said.

Zulkar Nayan said city dwellers are suffering while moving on roads and footpaths due to illegal makeshift shops, adding, "These illegal shops also contribute to creating traffic jams."

Drive against illegal occupants will continue to bring discipline on the streets.
