KHULNA: A district court on Wednesday awarded lifetime imprisonment to 12 people for killing Koya UP chairman Jamil Hossain.

Khulna speedy trial court Judge Aktar Hossain passed the order at around 10:30am.

The identity of convicts could not be known instantly.

The court also fined Tk 25,000 each. On default, the convicted have to serve six months more jail term.

Earlier on July 26, 2009, Koya Union Parisad Chairman Jamil Hossain Bachchu under Kumarkhali Upazila of the district was shot to death.

Later, victim’s brother Ziaul Islam filed a killing case against the convicts.
