The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested Md Titon Islam, 36, the truck driver responsible for running over two female garment workers in the Banani area on Monday morning.

A team from the Cyber and Special Crime unit arrested Islam in the Kolatia area of Keraniganj, using intelligence and modern technology.

The incident occurred around 7am when a speeding truck lost control and struck Minara Akhter, 19, who was killed, and Sumaya Akhter, 19, who was injured. Following the accident, garment workers blocked the airport road, causing massive traffic congestion until 1:30 pm.

The DMP confirmed that legal actions have been taken against the arrested driver.
