FROM JATIYA SANGSHAD: State minister for Power Division and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Monday said there was a scarcity of gas distribution compare to demand across the country.

The state minister came up with the assertion while addressing parliament in response to a question from lawmaker MA Hannan.

“The amount of scarcity is 500 cft per day,” he added.

He also said: “Construction and extension of new lines are kept stopped due to this shortage.”

But the government has decided to give new connections in areas where the lines were already constructed, he added.

Despite the rise of gas production at every day, there remains the scarcity due to the increasing demand, added state minister Nasrul Hamid.
