The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today (April 9) forecast mainly dry weather across most parts of the country, with temporary partly cloudy skies.
A mild heatwave is currently sweeping over the districts of Faridpur, Sirajganj, Feni, and Jashore, and is expected to persist, the BMD said in its latest bulletin.
While daytime temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged, nighttime temperatures may rise slightly.
However, isolated rain or thundershowers accompanied by lightning and temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at one or two places in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions.
The Met office also reported that a well-marked low over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining west-central Bay has moved northwards and now lies over the west-central Bay and adjoining southwest Bay.
It is expected to continue moving northwards over the next 12 hours, and then shift north-northeastwards. A trough of low pressure also lies over West Bengal and nearby regions.
The highest temperature recorded in the country on Monday was 36.4°C in Baghabari, Rajshahi Division. The lowest, 17.0°C, was recorded in Tetulia, Rangpur Division.
