After nearly nine months in office, Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the interim government led by Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus, shared a heartfelt message reflecting on his experience in public service.

In a Facebook post on his verified account on Friday (18 April), the veteran journalist and media personality wrote, “What have I achieved in the last nine months: a pinch of hatred, a handful of distrust, and a sky full of love.”

His emotional status quickly drew attention on social media, with many users praising the sincerity and honesty in his words.

Shafiqul Alam was appointed as Press Secretary after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on 5 August last year, when the interim administration assumed power.

Since then, he has served as the chief spokesperson, representing the government’s positions on major national and international issues.

Many on social media commented that his expression as a government official was graceful, balanced, and admirable.
