Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) today (April 24) said Italy is keen to cooperate Bangladesh in checking illegal immigration, human trafficking alongside enhancing capacity of Bangladesh Police.
The statement came during a meeting with Italian Ambassador to Dhaka, Antonio Alessandro, at the Home Ministry in the Bangladesh Secretariat.
Discussions included the upcoming visit of Italian Home Minister Matteo Piantedosi (May 5–6), police training, security cooperation, and efforts to combat transnational crimes.
The Home Adviser emphasized Bangladesh’s commitment to legal manpower exports and strict action against trafficking networks.
The Italian envoy reaffirmed Italy’s support and cooperation, praising the contributions of around 250,000 Bangladeshi workers currently in Italy.
