DHAKA: The High Court on Sunday summoned former chief election commissioner Dr ATM Shamsul Huda for his “derogatory remarks” over the court.
He was asked to explain appearing at the court on June 3.
An HC bench comprising Kazi Rezaul Huq and ABM Altaf Hossain passed the suo-moto order.
Earlier the former CEC said, “There is no rule of law in the country now.”
Dr Huda made the remarks while addressing a discussion on the findings of a study on political parties and democracy in Bangladesh at BRAC Centre Inn.
He said, “All constitutional bodies, including the Election Commission and Public Service Commission, as well as the judiciary have been politicized, and incompetent people are getting important posts there.”
