DHAKA: According to Dhaka WASA (Water Supply & Sewerage Authority), 13 lakhs cubic meters man-made waste produced everyday in Dhaka while Pagla wastage refinery plant can purify 50 thousand cubic meters only.

In this calculation, rest of the 12.5 lakh cubic meter unrefined wastage goes into the river everyday—said a NGO on Friday at a round table seminar in the VIP Lounge of National Press Club.

An organization named Paribesh Bachao Andolon (PABA) arranged the program where its Joint Secretary General Engineer Abdus Sobhan presented the keynote.  

He mentioned that some 21 thousand cubic meter wastage consisting Chromium, Lead, Sulfuric Acid and rotten fleshes of beasts were dumped into river from Hajaribagh Tannery in a day.

Besides, he said that the result of PH and EC test of others various points including Buriganga, Turag, Shitalakkah are very awful.
