DHAKA: Two persons were killed in two different road accidents near in the city early Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Islam Sikder, 45, an auto-rickshaw driver, hailed from Monohardi Thana of Narshingdi district and M Shahjahan, 35, son of one Delwar Hossain, hailed from Bhola sadar.

Confirming the matter, Sub-Inspector of Motijheel Thana Helaluddin told banglanews that a head-on clash between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and truck near Al Helal police Box in Motijheel area left the auto-rickshaw driver Islam Sikder dead on the spot.

Police seized the truck though the driver managed to flee the scene, he added.

On the other hand, Sub-Inspector of Mirpur Thana Afzal Hossain told banglanews that a rashly driven truck knocked a rickshaw near Mirpur-1 intersection area, leaving its driver Shahjahan dead on the spot.
