Lalmonirhat road cash kills 4, hurt 16

LALMONIRHAT: Four people were killed and 16 injured in a road accident on Rangpur-Kurigram highway in Sadar upazila of the district on Monday evening.

Of he deceased three were identified as Farida Begum, 60, Riaz Mia, 32 and Nuruzzaman Mia 70, hailed from Fakirer Takea area of the upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Lalmonirhat Sadar Thana HM Mahfuzar Rahman told banglanews that a rashly driven Kurigram-bound passenger bus knocked three auto-rickshaws at Fakirer Takea Bazar, leaving four people dead on the spot and at least 16 injured.

The injured were rushed to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital and Rangur Medical College Hospital, he added.

Local people seized the bus though the driver and helper managed to flee the spot, he added.
