DHAKA: Bangladesh and India have decided in principle about the purchase of 100 megawatt (MW) electricity from India’s Tripura sate, said power division secretary Monwar Islam.
The power secretary told media after the 7th meeting of India-Bangladesh Joint Steering Committee on Cooperation in Power sector at city’s Ruposhi Bangla hotel on Thursday noon.
Monwar Islam said 500mw electricity will be purchased from Indian power market. Both the countries have agreed on the purchase of more 30mw to 50mw electricity.
According to the secretary, positive discussions were held between the two countries to purchase more 500mw electricity which depends on India’s power supply capacity.
A joint technical team has been formed to finalize the matter, he added.
