LAXMIPUR: At least 15 shops were gutted when a fire broke out at Hazirhat Bazar in Kamalnagar upazila of the district early Friday.
The incident took place at 3:00am.
Affected shop owners claimed the damage was estimated about TK 1 crore.
Hazirhat Union Parisahd chairman, also bazar managing committee president, Abul Baset confirmed banglanews about the fire.
Traders said originated from an electric short circuit at a confectionary shop, the fire soon spread out the neighbouring shops. On information, a fire fighter unit from Ramgati upazila rushed in and brought the fire under control.
In the meantime, goods at 15 shops had already burnt to ashes causing damage worth about TK 1 crore, they claimed.
Kamalnagar thana Officer-In-Charge said “No casualty was reported in the fire.”
