DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called upon the scouts to get ready for leading the country by rising above hatred and moral erosion.
“I firmly believe that you would be groomed as worthy citizens by containing the great motto of scouting in all spheres of life and being enlightened with the light of education,” she said.
The premier came up with call while inaugurating the Ninth Bangladesh and the First SAARC National Scout Organizations (SNSO) Scout Jamboree at at Mouchak of Gazipur.
Sheikh Hasina highlighted the importance of scouts to be self-confident and ideal citizens.
She also said that scout members play a vital role in facing natural disasters of the country. They are highly praised by the mass for their involvement in recovering people after cyclone, floods or other disasters.
Moreover, the scout members are also well known for their welfare activities as plantation, sanitation, health education, EPI programs and environmental awareness.
Sheikh Hasina said the present world is advancing relying on information technology (IT). “So you will have to take preparation from now to face the challenges of the IT and you will have to build yourselves befitting to modern world,” she added.
Indicating the scout members, she said “You are being skilled after the recent programs of information technology.” However, further help might be sought from the Health and Power Ministry to resolve the chaos in these issues, she again added.
She said that the government is ready to provide any help to scout members. The National Scout training center in Mouchak of Gazipur is likely to be an international level training center shortly. Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Conference was organized in Bangladesh for the very first time in 2012, she said.
There should be a scout building in every district and everyone should come forward to assist them.
There are 13-lac members of the scout in the country which is not excessive comparably the total population. Maintaining the quality the members should be increased, Sheikh Hasina further said.
Addressing the scout members of South Asian countries, she said, “I welcome the Scouts from SAARC Countries. I am grateful to all the SAARC Countries for giving us the opportunity to arrange First SAARC National Scout Organization Jamboree in Bangladesh. Please convey my regards and best wishes to all your scouts.”
She greeted all the scout members and others who were present there in the inauguration program.
