CHITAGONG: A traffic police inspector was killed in a road accident in Fakirhat area under Sitakunda upazila of the district early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Nasir Uddin, 45, a traffic police inspector.

Baro Aulia Highway outpost Police Officer-in-Charge Syed Jakir Hossain told banglanews, “The police man was standing behind a damaged lorry in the area then a Chittagong-bound covered van knocked the cop along with the parked lorry, leaving him dead on the spot.”

Police seized the covered van and lorry but the driver fled the scene, he added.
