The National Consensus Commission will soon submit its final report to the interim government, the commission’s Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz announced on Sunday (October 5).
Speaking at a meeting held at the state guesthouse Jamuna, chaired by Commission Chairman and Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, Professor Riaz confirmed that the report’s preparation was in its final stages.
The hour-long meeting reviewed the contents of the July Charter, its proposed implementation framework, and the political parties’ responses to the process.
The commission also briefed the gathering on its current stance and the progress made toward achieving consensus among political actors.
Professor Yunus expressed satisfaction with the commission’s overall progress and commended its efforts to advance national unity.
Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz noted that the commission had received extensive cooperation from all political parties and “extraordinary support” from the media throughout its work.
Professor Yunus extended his gratitude and best wishes to all commission members and directed them to update him promptly on the completion of the final phase of their work.
Among those present at the meeting were Commission members Justice Md Emdadul Haque, Dr Iftekharuzzaman, Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar, and Dr Md Ayub Mia, along with the Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Monir Hayder. Interim government advisers Muhammad Faozul Kabir Khan, Asif Nazrul, and Adilur Rahman Khan also attended.
