DHAKA: During his visit to the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Shiro Sadoshima, Ambassador of Japan assured his support for consolidation of peace and development in CHT.
On April 9, the Ambassador visited small-scale irrigation and water management project carried out by Khagrachari Hill District Council through Grant Assistance for Grassroots and Human Security Projects from the Government of Japan.
Appreciating the progress of works for the irrigation project, the Ambassador said, “Improvement of agricultural production and livelihood of local people through this project is so important that it will definitely contribute to the consolidation of peace and overall development in this region.”
On April 8, the Ambassador visited Multi-purpose Community Centre in Rangamati and Community Health post in Naniarchar, which were also built by UNDP and BRAC respectively with the Grant Assistance of Japan.
He also met Deputy Commissioner, District Council members of Rangamati as well as Chairman of the Regional Council Jyotirinda Bodhipriya Larma.
The Ambassador also discussed how Japan can cooperate for the consolidation of peace and development in CHT.
