JESSORE: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Wednesday detained 32 people including women and children when crossing Putkhali border at Benapole of the district illegally to enter into India.
Details of the detainees could not be known while most of them were women and children.
BGB 23 Battalion members nabbed them from different places on Benapole-Putkhali road and handed over them to Benapole Port Thana in the evening.
BGB sources said they were going to India on business purposes; some of them had become victims of trafficking by manpower agents, being lured to get jobs there.
The detainees were hailed from Jessore, Narail, Satkhira, Khulna and Bagerhat.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, Port Thana Sub-Inspector Shafiqul Islam said, “They will be produced before the court on Thursday.”
