8-platoon BGB deployed in Nganj

DHAKA:  Border Guard Bangladesh has been deployed in the district from Thursday morning to bring the law and order situation under control.

A total of eight platoons of BGB members were seen patrolling the metropolitan and Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

BGB headquarters information and public relations officer Mohsin Ahmed confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said BGB has been deployed to help other law enforcement agencies to control the chaotic situation in the district.

The recovery sparked protest among the family members, relatives, and the locals. They poured onto Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet highways at 3:00pm Wednesday and blocked the roads.

Angry people set fire to tyres about 10 to 12 places of the roads, vandalized vehicles there, bringing a halt to traffic movement.

A tense situation is prevailing in the area, following the recovery of another body from Shitalakkhya River on Thursday morning.
