DHAKA: Services at emergency unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital halted from Saturday night as interns started protest following at assault on six of them at Chankharpul.

Emergency department ticket seller M Munir Hossain told banglanews, “Ticket sale remained halted due the threat of the intern doctors; they told me not to sell ticket and no patient will not given treatment there.”

“No prohibitory order on ticket sale has come from the administration,” he added.

He said, “Pressure of the patients has been increasing since the dawn though it was low on the night.”

Ansar platoon commander Abdul Khaleque at DMCH confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Earlier, intern doctors closed the service and staged demonstration after miscreants attacked the doctors, injuring three people, including two of their fellows.

They also demanded the resignation of hospital director brigadier general Mustafizur Rahman.

College principal Ismail Khan opened the department for awhile on the night but later the interns halted the services.
