DHAKA: The biggest ever IT exposition in the country “Digital World 2014”, will be held on Jun 4-7, 2014 at Bangabandhu International Conference Center of the capital.

ICT Division of Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) are jointly organizing this festival, a press release said on Sunday.

Earlier, a Press Conference was held Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in the city, where Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology was present as chief guest while Mr. Nazrul Islam Khan, Secretary, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication & Information Technology and SM AsfaqueHussain, Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council were present as special guests.

“Private sector strengthening is one of the mottos of the government, in this backdrop, Digital World 2014 is being organized under Public-Private partnership” said Mr. Palak in his speech as chief guest there.

He also added that, “DIGITAL WORLD 2014” will be the largest showcasing of IT sector in our state.

“Never before such an event of this magnitude took place in Bangladesh’s IT sector where we are working jointly with the Trade Body Association like BASIS under the same ceiling.”

BASIS President Shameem Ahsan in his speech mentioned that BASIS has been organizing Softexpo annually for more than a decade.

“This is for the first time, Digital World is being organized jointly by BASIS and ICT Division. He added that, Digital World will be in any case interesting for the people of all tiers.” He added.

The speakers in the press conference also added that, there will be a bunch of events running through these 4 days including: Softexpo, Mobile Innovation Expo, eGovernance expo, eCommerce zone, Gamin zone, Business Matchmaking sessions, IT/BPO Forum, Developers Forum, Outsourcing Forum and the like. In addition to these, there will be 30 Seminars and more than 10 Technical sessions where renowned speakers from home and abroad will speak including International Star Speakers of the IT world.

Among others Shameem Ahsan, President of BASIS presided over the session. Russell T. Ahmed, Secretary General of BASIS & Chief Project Officer of Digital World along with high officials of ICT division, BCC and BASIS were also present at the program.
