SAVAR (DHAKA): A businessman was shot to death by miscreants in Ghoshpara area of Savar, outskirt of the capital Dhaka, on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Azad Rashid, 50, Savar Jatiya Party vice-president.

Witnesses said the victim was returning home around 9:30pm in the area and the miscreants opened fire aiming him, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was rushed to Savar Enam Medical College Hospital where doctor declared him dead.

Savar Thana Officer-in-Charge Mostafa Kamal confirmed the matter to banglanews.

A suspected man was held in this connection, he added.
