2 Bangladeshis held by BSF

THAKURGAON: Indian Border Security Force (BSF) detained two Bangladeshi workers from Dharmogar border in Ranisankail upazila of district early Wednesday.

The detainees are identified as Saheb Ali, 45, son of Aijuddin of Amradangg village and Helal Uddin, 32, son of Setab Uddin of Shahanabad village of the upazila.

Local sources said they were returning home on Tuesday late night after working at an Indian brick field for six months. At that time, BSF 121-Battallion members at Kukradah camp detained them near the pillar No. 372 in Dharmogar inside Indian Territory.

Confirming the detention, Border Guard Bangladesh Thakurgaon-30 Battalion commanding officer Lt. Colonel Kalam Hossain told banglanews, “A letter was sent to BSF protesting the incident strongly.”

“A commander level flag-meeting was held between BSF and BGB at 9:30pm Wednesday,” he added.

During the meeting, BSF told that the detainees were handed over to Goalpur Thana and they were sued in accordance with the Indian laws.
