Huge job cut at Brac Bank

DHAKA: Brac Bank Limited, one of the leading private commercial banks of the country, is axing its work force in the name of reducing expenditure.

A total of 28 officials were allegedly terminated in past few days without any prior notice.

Sources inside said that there is a list of around 50 employees in different levels to be sacked soon.

They added that the process of job cuts has created panic among the employees. They said that this sudden job cut would bring them to financial crisis as well as hamper the study of their children.

They claimed that the list was created not based on performances rather based on personal and political issues.

They also claimed that a section of privileged officials are making this list being vindictive to others.

Last year, the bank also axed its workers in the same way, they added.

Expressing their fear an employee told banglanews that they are in a panic situation. They are doing job in an uncertain situation.

Sending emails to banglanews several victims expressed their anguish and requested for investigative reports.

But the Brac Bank officials concerned to the matter declined to comment on this issue.
