Hizbut Tahrir chief under 3 Days remand

DHAKA: Chief of Hiz-ut-Tahrir Professor Mahiuddin Ahmed was Tuesday taken on three days remand for quizzing over his Islamic outfits militant activities.

A metropolitan Court granted the remand in two cases filed against him under under the Anti-Terrorism.

Police prayed for 14 days’ remand but Metropolitan Magistrate Roksana Akhter granted 3 days for the interrogation.

Mohuddin is a teacher of the Institute of Business Administration-IBA of the University of Dhaka. Police sources said, he was illegally directing party’s activities though the government banned the militant organization.

Muhiuddin denied the allegation while he was speaking during the hearing.

He had no lawyer to conduct his case. He with the permission of the court said, “I am not involved in any illegal activities. I have been house arrest by the police for last six months. So it is not possible to run the activities of the organization.”

Police arrested him from his Green Road residence on Tuesday morning.
