DHAKA: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairman Mizanur Rahman on Sunday categorically said it is a criminal offence to make the deprival of general people from medical service.
He was talking to journalists during addressed a seminar titled ‘National Woman Policy-2011’ at the auditorium of Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) in the city.
The rights chief said, “None has rights to deprive the general people of the medical treatment. It is a violation of human rights and is equal to the criminal offence.”
Mizanur hoped that the state would act properly against those who were involved in such offence.
Terming the seven-murder in Narayanganj as ‘the most heinous crime’ he said, “We asked the home ministry through a letter to send the report on the killing after completing investigation hurriedly.”
