NARSINGDI: At least eight people were killed and over 60 others injured as two passenger buses collided on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in BISIC industrial area in the district on Wednesday afternoon.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately while more deaths feared as many were in critical condition.

The injured were rushed to Narshingdi Sadar Hospital and other local clinics and hospitals.

ASP Mokhlesur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He also said gas cylnder blast burnt three people were killed on the spot as a Dhaka-bound passenger bus collided head on with another passenger bus coming from opposite direction around 4:45pm.

The fatally injured five others succumbed to their injuries, including the driver of one of the buses, at the hospital, he added.

Local fire service members conducted the rescue operation.
