MEHERPUR: Police arrested two persons including a local Jamaat leader here Wednesday night.

The persons were identified as local Jamaat leader Abdus Salam, 30, and one Osman Ali, 32.

Sadar thana Charge Jihad told banglanews24.com.bd, “On information, police picked up Salam from his father-in-law’s residence at Govipur village under Sadar upazila at around 12:30 am on charge of grabbing lands in Amjhupi village of the same upazila.”

Police arrested Osman, a mobile-set thief from the city on the same night, he added.

Later, both the arrested were sent to Meherpur Jail on Thursday noon.
