Criminal database in police stations

DHAKA: Police is working on a highly-sophisticated criminal database for detecting criminal elements quickly by cross-checking their biometrics and other records.

Following the directives of high officials of police department a Criminal Database Management System (CDMS) launched in every police station from last two weeks ago. 

For this the finger prints, photo, special identification mark of detainees are being collected. 

The officials said that in most of the cases, changing name criminals again involved in criminal activities after release. But such type of database will be helpful to identify the criminals easily.

Besides, the criminal database will reduce the harassment of innocent one.

Confirming the matter, Kafrul Thana Officer-in-Charge Abdul Kaium told banglanews, “Recently we have started to the save data of criminals.”

Rampura Thana Operation Officer Mostafizur Rahman also confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Joint Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Shahabuddin Khan said that Dhaka Metropolitan Police and Detective Police have continued the work of database formation.
