RANGPUR: Three people were killed as lightning struck them at Badarganj upazila of the district on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Taskul Islam, 15, of Gutirdanga of Kalupara union, Mujibur Rahman, 50, from the same village and Nur Nabi, 45, of Kazipara under Madhurpur union.

Witnesses said Taskul and Mujibur Rahman were killed and three others injured as thunderbolt struck them at Gutirdanga Haat under Kalupara union of the upazila.

Taskul was a student of class X in Gutirdanga High School.

Sources said lightning struck them while Mujibur Rahman was cutting hair of Taskul at his saloon, leaving them dead on the spot and Rashidul, Anisul and Alamgir injured.

In another incident, Nur Nabi died at his home in Kazipara under Madhurpur union as thunderbolt struck him around 11:00am.
