CHAPAINAWABGANJ: At least three people including a minor were killed and eight others injured critically as lightning struck them at various areas in Shibganj upazila on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Meraj, 5, son of Abdur Razzaq, residing in Shahebnagar village under Shahbajpur union, Moushumi, daughter of Mozaffar, residing in Sheikhtola of the upazila and Nurul Huda, 40, residing in upazila’s Bajitpur village.

Locals said to banglanews that Nurul Huda died, while lightning struck him on the afternoon during working at the garden.

Meraj was playing near home, while ligtning struck him, leaving dead on the spot, they added. Moushumi also died at the same time.

They told that the injured persons, whom were wounded during the rainfall, are now under treatment at Shibganj Upazila Health Complex.
