DHAKA: Veteran photo journalist Jahirul Haque passed away at a Delhi hospital in India on Sunday morning.
He was 71.
Jahirul breathed his last at Institute Of Liver And Biliary Sciences Hospital around 7:00am.
Earlier on June 5, he was admitted to the hospital and later put on life support there since Thursday.
Jahirul had been infected with the hepatitis C virus for some days. He was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh medical University on May 14.
Later, physicians referred him to foreign hospital for better treatment as his condition deteriorated.
Jahirul Haque was the personal photographer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He also founder president of photo journalist association and working at Dainik Ajkal of Kolkata as special Correspondent.
On April 17, 2006, police swung into an uncalled for action against the on-duty journalists, injuring at least 20 media-men, including veteran photojournalist Jahirul Haque, of different national dailies and satellite televisions at the Chittagong Divisional Stadium.
The incident of attack on journalists by law enforcers was condemned across the country.
