Jahirul’s 1st janaza at Nizamuddin Auliya Dargah

DHAKA: The first namaz-e-janaza of veteran photo journalist Jahirul Haque will be held at Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya Dargah premises in Delhi on Sunday noon. 

Press minister Enamul Haque Chowdhury of Bangladesh High Commission to Delhi confirmed the matter to banglanews.

High Commission officials including Delhi’s acting high commissioner Mahbub Hasan Saleh and Bangladeshi expatriates are expected to attend the Janaza, he added.

Later, his body will be kept at mortuary of Institute Of Liver And Biliary Sciences Hospital and will be sent his body to Dhaka by a Jet Air flight on Monday.

Besides, journo leader Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury told banglanews that after arrival in Dhaka, his namaz-e-janaza will be held at Press Club premises after asr prayer

Earlier, Jahirul breathed his last at Institute Of Liver And Biliary Sciences Hospital in New Delhi of India around 7:00am.

On June 5, he was admitted to the hospital and later put on life support there since Thursday.

Jahirul had been infected with the hepatitis C virus for some days. He was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh medical University on May 14.

Later, physicians referred him to foreign hospital for better treatment as his condition deteriorated. 

Jahirul Haque was the personal photographer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He also founder president of photo journalist association and working at Dainik Ajkal of Kolkata as special Correspondent.
