CHITTAGONG: A Chittagong court on Wednesday ordered to launch the trail of Bahaddarhat flyover collapse case indicting eight people.
Chittagong Session Justice SM Mujibur Rahman Bench passed the order on Wednesday.
Bench Assistant M Omar Fuad confirmed the matter to banglanews.
The court will start recording deposition from July 16.
On October 24, 2013 Sub-Inspector (investigation) SM Shahidul Islam of Chandgaon Thana submitted a charge sheet deducting the name of some influential CDA officials.
Some 18 of the 25 accused as per the statement were withdrawn from charge sheet and another eight names were included who were not involved in the case.
The accused are the then project manager Gias Uddin, Supervision Engineer Monjurul Islam, Site Engineer Abdul Jalil, Aminur Rahman, Abdul Hie, Md Mosarraf Hossain Riaz, Quality Control Engineer Shahjahan Ali and Rafiqul Islam, his name was not in statement, of a contractor organization Mir Akter and Parisa Trade Systems (JV). They all are now in bail.
On June 3, Public Prosecutor Md Fakhruddin Chowdhury appeal for further investigation of the case withdrawing the name of some influential peoples.
The collapse happened on the night of November 24, 2012 killing 16 people and injuring more than 50 others. Three girder spans of the under-construction flyover collapsed due to substandard construction materials and lack of security measures.
Chandgaon Thana Sub-Inspector Abul Kalam Azad filed a case against 25 people.
