LALMONIRHAT: Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead a Bangladeshi cattle trader in Shomser Nagar border area under Patgram upazila of the district on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Shimul Pradhan, 30, son of late Mofizar Rahman Pradhan of Dhabalsuti village of the upazila.
Witness Shomser Nagar Border Guard Bangladesh Guard (BGB) camp Habildar Nuru Mian told banglanews, “A group of cattle trader, numbering 8 to 10, including Shimul was transporting cattle in Bherbherihat Shomser Nagar border pillar no. 861 at 10:30pm Wednesday.”
At that time, a patrol team of 104 Chongorkhata BSF camp fired 5 rounds of bullets, leaving Shimul bullet-wound on the chest and the belly.
Injured Shimul, however, managed to enter into the Bangladesh border. He succumbed to his injuries on way to the Patgram Hospital.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion's commanding officer Lt Col Shafiul Alam Khan said, “Protesting the killing, BGB will send a letter to BSF for holding a flag meeting.”
