NATORE: Cultural Affairs Secretary Ranjit Kumar Biswas has been admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Friday night.

Earlier in the day, a special helicopter brought the Secretary Ranjit along with his bodyguard and driver to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 8:45pm from where they were brought to BSMMU.

Mollah Ahmad Kutub Uddin, public relations officer of the Ministry Cultural Affairs, confirmed the matter to banglanews. 

Secretary Ranjit along with his bodyguard and driver were injured critically in a road accident on Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway in Boraigram upazila of the district in the noon.

Ranjit Biswas was first taken to Amena Hospital of Bonpara from where he was transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

Quoting witnesses, Superintendent of Police in Natore Basudev Banik told banglanews a goods-laden truck knocked the private car of the secretary on Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway at Rajakar intersection in Boraigram upazila, leaving him and his driver and bodyguard injured critically.

Police has seized the truck though the driver managed to flee the spot, he added.
