DHAKA: A Dhaka court Tuesday awarded death penalty to one and life term for two times to two more accused in a killing case of private TV Channel video editor Atiqul Islam. 

The death convict is Shakil Sikdar and two others convicts are Abdulla Ibne Sardar alias Nahid and Forkan. 

Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-2 Judge M Nuruzzaman delivered the verdict in presence of the accused. 

The court also awarded jail sentence to Khokan for three years in the same case who is fugitive now.

The case statement reads: convicts shot Atiqul Islam near Mogbazar rail crossing area on February 13 of 2009 for snatching purpose around 8:00pm. 

Atiqul was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his bullet injuries at 10:30pm. 

Following the day, victim’s brother Abu Bakar Siddique lodged a murder case with Ramna Thana.
