Voting ends in N’ganj by-polls, counting on

NARAYANGANJ: Voting in Narayanganj-5 constituency by-election ended peacefully on Thursday afternoon and counting is underway amid tight security.     

Earlier, voters started casting from 8:00am and continued till at 4:00pm at a stretch. 

Four candidates are contesting in the by-polls as the constituency became vacant with the death of Jatiya Party MP Nasim Osman.

Nasim’s brother Selim Osman is vying for the constituency from Jatiya Party, Shafiqul Islam Delwar from Krishak-Shramik Janata League and SM Akram and Mamun Sirajul Majid as independent candidates.  

Centering the by-polls, huge security measures have been taken by administration. One thousand Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel were deployed as striking forces. 

Besides, hundreds of police men were deployed for five-layer securities.
