‘Govt taking away Grameen Bank’

DHAKA: Grameen Bank governing body member Tahsina Khatun claimed that the government is taking away the bank disregarding its original owners.

She came up with the assertion in a program on the occasion of “Social Business Day” in city’s Radisson Hotel on Saturday.

She also alleged that there were many allegations of corruption against many bank officials but government took little action against them.

On the other hand, there is no allegation of corruption against our bank officials, she added.

She further said that the bank was formed for the betterment of the poor and helpless people of the country. If government takes it away then the rights of the poor will be disrupted, she added.

With the slogan of “We are not job-seekers, we are job-givers”, the daylong program was attended by 275 participants from 31 countries.

Diplomats of the several countries including the USA Ambassador in Dhaka Dan W Mozena were present in the event.
