Budget session ends Thursday

FROM PARLIAMENT: After a month of discussion, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will declare the conclusion of the first budget session of the Jatiya Sangsad Thursday.

Earlier at 11.00 the last day’s session resumed with the speaker in the chair. 

The second session of the 10th Parliament and its first budget session started on June 3 that prolonged to July 3.

The budget of 2014-2015 fiscal year of Tk 250,506 crores were passed on June 29.

Journalist Welfare Trust Bill-2014, Rural Saving Bill-2014 and Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Bill -2014 were passed in the parliament.

There were 23 days of the session where the MP’s discussed about 60 hours over the budget.

The first session of the new parliament started on January 29 that ended on April 10. 

Jatiya Party, as part of the government and main opposition party, joined the parliament, from the first day of the maiden session. 

For the first time, the opposition party is trying to raise their voice in the parliament leaving behind the tradition of boycotting the parliament.
