DHAKA: Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan on Sunday said patrol teams of marine police would be deployed at all ferry crossing points from July 15 in ensuring the security to homecoming people during Eid-ul-Fitr.

The shipping minister told the journalists after a meeting related to ‘Passenger Security on Waterways during Eid’ at the Secretariat in the city.

He said, “Tk 2, which is taken from passengers at Paturia-Dowlotdia and Kawrakandi ferry crossings, will be remained closed until further decision.”

The ruling Awami League lawmaker said, “Three new ferries will be added to the ferry fleet at the Paturia-Dowlotdia crossing to keep the homecoming people’s travel hassle free.”
