500 BD workers in Oman wait for deportation

DHAKA: Some 500 workers were held by Oman police and shown illegal though they went there legally from Bangladesh and later would be deported to Bangladesh.

Of them, around 100 workers have already been deported to Bangladesh and arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Friday morning.

 One of the victims, Jamal hailed from Munshiganj told banglanews “I went to Oman one and half year ago by spending Tk 4-lac. The validity of my visa was not expired but they termed us illegal and forcefully sent back us to home.”

Another Bangladeshi worker named Azad said that I went to Oman spending some Tk 6-lac for better income. Police forced us to return home back, he added.

When contacted, the officials of Bangladesh embassy in Oman said that they have nothing to do on this matter.
